Schedule for Miners' Memorial Day
June 18, 19, 20, 2010
Miners' Day is sponsored by the Eureka Coal Heritage Foundation with assistance from WAVE (Windber Area Visioning Experience) and the additional support of the Windber Hotel staff. The Miners’ Memorial Weekend is an annual event to honor the coal miners who died in the mines. It has grown from a small parade on main street to the large street festival of today, which attract many visitors from Southwestern Pa. and beyond. Events included a car show, motorcycle show, street dances each night featuring area bands, food and craft vendors, games, children’s activities area and petting zoo, and a parade, It also features live entertainment throughout the day, and a fireworks show on Saturday evening.
This event is designed to celebrate our rich heritage in coal and family values. Good, clean entertainment for the entire family!! Make plans to join us over Father's Day Weekend.
This year we are 'thrilled' to announce that our Windber Coal Heritage Center will be open under new management and leadership. Special thanks to the vision of Rose Bud Mining for their faith in our community, and the importance of maintaining Windber's Coal Heritage in Windber. Chris Barkley, as before, will be there to greet you. Be sure to make a visit to the Coal Heritage Center a must during our celebration !!
We invite you to visit and support the many sponsors from our 'Festival Sponsor' list. Without their support this event would not be possible. THANK YOU SPONSORS!!
