Miners' Memorial Day Festival

Overhead1

Intermittent rain and high winds failed to deter thousands who showed up to celebrate the 10th annual Miners' Memorial Day Weekend celebrations on June 19 - 21, 2009 in downtown Windber.  This family friendly event continued its proud history of providing remembrance of the cultural and historical importance that coal mining played in the development and lifestyle of the region.

SponsorSign The Eureka Coal Heritage Foundation expresses its most sincere appreciation to all the sponsors, volunteers, and participants who helped make the weekend a rousing success.  The funding for all events, entertainment and support activities comes from donations of local organizations and individuals.  Their continued generosity, especially in these trying economic times, speak highly of their willingness to help commemorate the heritage of the area.

Please visit the Miners' Day Gallery 2009 for an idea of the festivities enjoyed by the participants (or perhaps try to spot yourselves among the throng if you were lucky enough to attend).

Information on the June, 2010 Miners' Memorial Day will begin to be posted on this website beginning next January. We look forward to providing more fun and entertainment than ever before as the celebration continues its strong growth. Hope to see you here next year!
