A Message from the President

Welcome to the official website of the EUREKA COAL HERITAGE FOUNDATION.

Through the years, the Foundation has been instrumental in preserving the historic integrity of the Windber area.  Although we can point to many success stories (located within website), there are many more projects that need to be completed.  It is a challenging task, undertaking major renovation and formulating re-use of important landmarks. logo_echf

Locating the necessary funding for selected projects have  proven to be a daunting task.  Dwindling specific grant programs are quite elusive.  However, we continue our quest, continually searching for funding sources .  A collective open mind and eagle eye encourage ‘the Board’  to identify new projects and ideas to entertain.   As always, we welcome ALL ideas from interested parties.

The all-volunteer Board of Directors have  tirelessly  donated  their time and efforts to protect and preserve the heritage of our area.    However the true success of any endeavor is gauged by the involvement of the community, government leaders, and volunteers.

The 14th Anniversary of WINDBERS’ MINER’S MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND,  June 14, 15, and 16, 2013 is a project ECHF sponsors to provide the entire community a weekend of family oriented relaxation and fun, while always keeping our focus on the central character of our heritage : ‘THE COAL MINER’.

We cordially invite you to join us…whether by a tax-free donation of money or time…all donations gratefully accepted.
There is no reward greater than to being a small part in the preservation  of our heritage, values, and town.
